posted 06/09/2010 Fall or "winter" baseball is played from late-August through mid-November. Sign-ups begin in early-August. The commitment usually involves one practice during the week and a game on Sunday, to avoid conflict with other commitments with fall sports. Fall baseball tends to be more laid-back than even the spring rec season, and most managers try to emphasize developing fundamentals.
Most of the La Jolla kids that want to play recreational baseball during the fall/winter play in one of two leagues:
Tecolote Baseball or
North City Baseball. Tecolote offers two different programs: 1) the rec league - involving one practice during the week and game on Sunday and 2) Academy - involving 2 practices during the week and game on Sunday. The Academy also is run by coaches/players from USD and the higher price reflects that.
Registration for both leagues is now open.
There are also opportunities to play baseball year-round with travel ball programs. For more, see our page on
travel baseball.
