President's Message

Welcome to the La Jolla Youth Baseball website.  Since 1952, the purpose of our organization has been to help young people in our community learn to play and enjoy the game of baseball.  We are hopeful that sharing in the baseball team experience and navigating the inevitable ups and downs of a season will help them mature into better adults.

La Jolla Youth Baseball would not be successful without the continued efforts of numerous parent volunteers who donate countless hours of their time to our league.  Whether as a Board member, League President, Manager, Coach or Team Parent  I would like to encourage anyone and everyone with some spare time to get involved.  You will make a difference!

In addition to the numerous families who have donated their time to LJYB over the years, we have also been the beneficiary of significant individual, corporate and institutional donor- and sponsorships.  If you or someone you know would like to be a LJYB sponsor or make a donation, please view the
Donate to LJYB page or
Sponsors page.  Your continued generosity is vital for the maintenance of our fields and operation of our leagues.

As we embark on another exciting season in 2013, it's worth noting that everything we strive to accomplish is ultimately for the benefit of the kids out on the field.  Some games are more competitive than others, and sometimes it's too easy to get focused on the outcome of the game rather than the individual accomplishments of the kids who are playing it.   Baseball is a complicated game to learn and it takes time and effort to develop the skills and knowledge required to play it.  As parents we can help our kids most by practicing with and teaching them the game of baseball, cheering them on for their efforts and encouraging them to do their very best.

Thanks very much for your continued support of La Jolla Youth Baseball.  I look forward to seeing you out at the fields.

Sincerely yours,

Jim Benham
LJYB President
